"Reading a good book is like taking a journey"

During the course of the semester this class has given me an opportunity to have SSR time which is known silent sustained reading time. I completely finished three books. While others finished at least four to five books I took my time and re-read some of the parts in the book just to relive the moments that really stuck out to me. The value of reading in this class is incredibly beneficial because you have the opportunity to gain more knowledge from reading about things and get to see how the writers' put their thoughts down onto paper. It is inspiring to read from different point of views and writing styles. Having the chance to read everyday even if it was for ten minutes can broaden your horizons far more than if you just started writing.

A few books I started, but couldn't finish.....
Despite all of the good things I've heard about Paper Towns I just couldn't get into it.I tried and tried for a couple of days. It's a cliche love story, guy loves girl, girl is too good for the boy and so forth. I had a chance to read this book everyday for a couple of weeks and the farther I read the more it just didn't seem intriguing. I tried for days to come up with something else to read but I couldn't find anything that sparked my interest so I kept on reading. I skipped around a little bit, read the ending to try and convince me that I was reading something worth it, but even the ending was horrible. My sister said it was one of the best book she's ever read and she's twenty five. So i was the opposite of everyone and decided to drop the book as soon as I found Will Grayson, Will Grayson.
Which leads me to my next point, Will Grayson, Will Grayson. Which- ten pages in has been quite an interesting book. I am a big fan of John Green so I picked up this book. It focuses on Will Grayson who (ironically with the title) is the main character and his gay best friend Tiny. (another ironic moment). Now I am not a big fan of cussing in books because I feel as if there are other words that could create more power but this book focuses on lives of a teenager and I think the authors derogatory comments and cussing to other characters fit well. I thoroughly enjoy John Green's writing and his relate-ability throughout his stories. I intend to finish this book without skipping pages and continue to read John Green in the future. Ten pages in and John Green already has my attention locked in.
